National Girlfriends Day

Hello everybody!

August 1st is National Girlfriends day, which celebrates friendship. Because of that I’ve decided to come up with three tips on how can you and your girlfriend together take your health into your own hands and live a healthy and adventurous life.

1. Be active

When you hang out with your girlfriend it’s always fun to watch TV for hours, eat pizza and other junk food and just do nothing. But you can also have fun and be active at the same time. Go to the gym and if you prefer nature you can go cycling, running or hiking- you can enjoy in the nature, do something good for yourself and at the same time be with your friend. If you and your friend are more of artistic type you can dance while listening to your favourite music. Or if you both usually spend most of your time on YouTube watching your favourite YouTubers- maybe you should try to do the Yoga Challenge and have an amazing time while being active. There are so many ways to be active while hanging out with your girlfriend, so instead of inviting her to a movie marathon, you should invite her to the nearest meadow where you can play volleyball, a game of badminton...

2. Eat healthy

I admit that bag of crisps, ice- cream, gummy bears... are a must- have when I invite my friends to my house. But have you ever realised how you feel somehow useless or you feel too lazy to even stand up and do something when you eat all the sweets? Maybe next time you and your friend can together buy or even make some healthy snacks- beside eating healthy and again doing something good for yourself, you’ll spend some time together, talk and have fun- and that’s all that matters, right?

And if you’re wondering what snacks could possibly be healthy and delicious you can find many different recipes on Tumblr and Pinterest. Here are some really simple ideas for snacks: you can make fruit smoothies, you can try frozen grapes, sliced apples, frozen mangos, air popped popcorn... My favourite is of course a banana smoothie, because it’s made in less than 5 minutes and all you need to make this smoothie (two servings) are two bananas, 2 ½ glasses of milk and cinnamon. You can check my recipe here.

3. Be positive

Always be positive and surround yourself with positive people. Sometimes you might not even realise how much you’re doing for your body and mind when you’re around positive and open- minded people. You have to feel peaceful; you have to feel like yourself around your girlfriend. Talk with her about problems and then solve them together. Laugh together. Do crazy things together. From time to time be silent and really peaceful together. Be positive even when you feel like giving up on everything, because taking care for your health on the long term is one of the most important things in your life.

I wasn’t sure about making a post about health at first- I thought that no one will take me serious, because I’m 17, so what should I know about health? It’s true that I might seem young, but being healthy and living a healthy lifestyle is iportant no matter how old I am or any of you.

If you’d like to get some more information about National Girlfriends Day or you’d like to get more useful information considering health, you can get them here: Girlfriends' Health and Safety Tips. You can also check out Oscar Health Insurance and their infographic below for check- ups you need throughout your life. They provide many resources through their health insurance for New Jersey and New York, that helps their members stay proactive about their health. For example, for their incentive program you can earn up to $240 (219€) just hitting a step goal each day with a free misfit fitness tracker they provide.

Summer Wishlist

1. Topshop Tropical Print Bikini Set // 2. Communion- Years & Years // 3. Boohoo Kylie Cross Strap Crop Top // 4. Boohoo Julia Cross Strap Ankle Strap Platform Heels // 5. Lace Strap Black Chiffon Cami Top // 6. Quay Invader Shades // 7. Topshop Cut-Out Skater Dress by WYLDR

Hello everybody!

I haven’t done a wishlist since January and the main reason is that I’m quite indecisive and instead of searching for things from my wishlist, I always find some completely different clothes, accessories... in the store. But since I love summer, I decided to make a short summer wishlist.

I’ve actually just realised that I should probably choose more colourful clothes, but I guess I'm more into black these days. I’ve just fallen in love with this lovely bikini, the colours seem just perfect for the summer. So over the past year I’ve become obsessed with Years & Years and I’m not exaggerating when I say that every song from Communion is simply perfect. I’ve listened to all of the songs for so many times and Communion is probably the only thing that I really really really want. Next is a simple yet beautiful black crop top and even though I’m not a big fan of crop tops, I think that this one would go with so many different outfits.

Well, I never wear heels, because I’m quite clumsy and I live for flip flops not heels. But these platform heels are absolutely gorgeous and I already love them, even though I’d probably need a few walking lessons. Cami top is another black and simple piece, but it looks really beautiful. I love the colour, shape and everything about these sunglasses. And finally a lovely skater dress- the cut out makes the dress so much more interesting, I love it!

And what is on your wishlist?

Instagram Diary

Hello everybody!

My love and passion for photography is often hidden because of my laziness. I love taking photos of nature, my cat, different cities, but at the same time, I’m too lazy to take my phone out of my bag and take some photos and I prefer to eat that delicious cake than to take hundreds of photos of it. But I’m still obsessed with Instagram, because I think it sums up my life in just a few photos. I do post a lot of photos (in my opinion), but I delete most of them after I get bored of them.

So I thought I’d share the stories behind some of my photos that I haven’t deleted, because they have a special meaning to me or I just like them.

If you might want to follow me on Instagram- my username is sarawallflower.

One: My first photo on Instagram was taken in Bovecone of my favourite places in Slovenia. Well before this photo I posted two more photos, but I deleted them later, as I didn’t really like them. I'm really happy how this photo turned out, because it combines two of the things I like- a bridge and a forest.

Two: This photo was also taken in Bovec and it is probably one of my favourite photos from our family trip. The mountains, the river and houses in the background make the whole photo look kind of magical.

Three: On this photo you can see my cat Miki (I post a lot of his photos, but he looks so cute!). At the time I took this photo it was autumn, so he was getting really fluffy and he looked really cute in our bathtub and that’s why I just had to post this photo.

Four: When I went on a school trip to Munich all I did was taking photos of literally everything. If you follow me on Ask.fm you have probably noticed that I LOVE Germany, my dream is to live there one day, so I obviously fell in love with Munich.

Five: On this photo you can see my sister Lea and me and it’s not really the best photo of the two of us, but I still love it because it was taken by my mother on Lea’s birthday.

Six: We went on a really boring school trip in April (I think), I don’t even remember where and the only thing I liked about the trip was the nature. I know I post way to many photos of nature on Instagram, but I simply love it.

Seven: I went to Gardaland three times, but it looked amazing every time I went there. I had the best time in Gardaland with my best friend and when we ran from one attraction to another, I quickly took some photos. This one is one of my favourites.

Eight: About two weeks ago my sister, my cousin and I went to Croatia for a day and when we drove back to Slovenia we stopped by this beautiful lake and I just had to take some photos of it.

It was quite hard for me to choose only few photos and it was quite hard to describe them too. In my head there are so many thoughts about every single photo I’ve ever posted on Instagram, but it’s so hard to write those thoughts down. At the end all I can say is that every photo means a lot to me, because every photo represents a beautiful memory.

Sara Wallflower- One Year Later

Sunday, July 05, 2015 Sara Wallflower 31 Comments

Hello everybody!

On July 5th 2014 I wrote my first post on my blog, which was called Sara Wallflower. And today, on July 5th 2015 it’s my One Year Blogiversary!

Back in 2014, when I created this blog, I literally didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t know what blogging is and how hard it is to run a blog, because there are not many bloggers in Slovenia. And at the time the only blog I checked from time to time was Zoe Sugg’s blog. I really enjoyed reading it as I got a feeling that I can get to know her much better from her posts than her YouTube videos. So because of her I became interested in blogging.

One afternoon I just decided I want to start a blog- mainly because of my curiosity and also boredom (it was summer holiday and I had nothing to do). But I didn’t know anyone with a blog, so I couldn’t ask anyone for advice and beside that I felt like I was rushing into something I have no idea about. I then started to feel insecure about starting a blog, I questioned whether people will like it and if not- what if negative comments will get me down. But days passed and at the time my dad and I were taking a hike a lot and on every hike I was thinking about the blog, about what I would write, how would I design it...

I really wanted to create some kind of diary, where I could write about anything that’s on my mind, without other people judging me. And if my diary would help someone, that’s even better. I realised if I feel so passionate about blogging and I haven’t even started with it, there was a big chance I would regret not starting a blog sooner or later.

That’s how I created my blog Sara Wallflower. When I was writing new posts, discovering new blogs, commenting on people’s posts I felt free and happy- just like I feel when I climb, hike, run or do anything else I love to do. So blogging became something I love to do and without blogging my head would simply explode. While blogging I felt self- confident, I felt like I can do anything I want to- not like in real life, where I constantly felt insecure, where it was so hard for me to meet new people or start a conversation with someone.

But meeting other bloggers was so simple, because I could follow and talk to people who had same ideas as I had. Now I can say that meeting so many new people was probably the best thing this year, and all of your nice comments are probably the reason I still write new posts. Not quitting blogging really surprised me, as I usually get bored of everything really quickly and after a short time I quit everything I start.

So thank YOU for sticking with me since the very beginning, thank YOU for supporting me on this crazy and wonderful journey I have never imagined I would even start, thank YOU for being here when I felt like giving up on everything or when I didn’t write a new post for ages because of school. And thank YOU for letting me express my true self, because pretending I’m someone I’m not is something I do on daily basis in real life. But on Sara Wallflower I can be myself. And I feel like no one judges me. And that’s probably the best feeling in the whole world.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my posts and getting to know me a bit in the past year. I also hope you will enjoy reading them in the next few months, 2 years or even 10 years!
