Summer Favourites: Movies and TV Shows
Hello everybody!
Since I don't have much time to just relax and watch
TV during the school year, I've decided to watch as many TV series and movies
from my 'Movies to watch list' as I can. And I've decided to share with you
some of my favourites. Also, am I the only one who adds a movie to a list after
seeing a quote/ gif/ photo on Tumblr?
TV series:
Orange Is the New Black
The series is based on Piper Kerman's memoir, Orange
Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison. You've probably already wacthed
it or you've heard a lot of reviews about it, so I'm not going to bore you with
the story. If you read my last post, you probably know that one of my favourite
characters is Stella (Ruby Rose), even though she's a supporting role. I kind
of love all of the characters, almost all of their stories are really
interesting, but beside Stella, my two favourites are also Miss Claudette and
Flaca (She loves The Smiths, I love The Smiths- what else can I say?). I've
binge watched OITNB (I'm not the only one, right?) and now I just can't wait
for 2016. But if Stella, Bennett and Nicky won't appear in season 4- I'm not
sure if I'm emotionally stable enough to handle this.
Faking It
Faking it is about Karma and her best friend Amy,
which in attempt to become popular, pretend to be a couple. Just like OITNB,
I've binge watched this series, which also shows I don't have a life. I like
Amy, I don't like Karma that much, so you can guess I ship #reamy way more than
#karmy. Also on August 31st will air the second half of season 2, so I'm really
excited about that.
Movies:
I'm not the biggest fan of sci-fi movies, but I'm
really glad I've decided to watch this one (thanks to Tumblr). I loved the
story, I loved all of the characters, J. Phoenix was simply amazing. I did
watch this movie in two parts, because my attention span is quite short. My
favourite parts of the movie were definitely the throwbacks.
Around the Block
I was stalking Ruby Rose (now I sound like a stalker),
when I found out that she plays in a movie called Around the block and of
course I instantly decided to watch it. I've never heard about it before, but
then I saw that Christina Ricci plays in it and since she's a great actress, I thought that the movie has to be at least decent. Although Ruby appears for only about 3 minutes
(what a shame), I loved it. The story about
an Aboriginal boy was really touching, and I found it rather interesting and
unique- at least I haven't watched a movie like this before.
Blue Is the Warmest Colour
A French drama revolves around Adèle and a blue-
haired girl, Emma. I had to read the plot a few times before I really
understood the whole story, but then I just couldn't stop watching the movie
(okay, I watched it in two parts, but who can watch a movie for 3 hours?). I
also cried while watching it- a lot. And I don't cry often. The chemistry
between Exarchopoulos and Seydoux is just indescribable. I have to say
that Blue is the warmest colour is probably now one of my favourite movies
ever.
The Breakfast Club
The movie revolves around five teenagers, each a
member of a different high school clique who end up in detention together. I
wanted to watch this movie for so long, so I'm glad that I've finally decided
to do so. My favourite character is probably Allison, the reclusive
outcast, who is also a compulsive liar.
Trust
Trust is about a teenage girl who becomes a victim of sexual abuse when
she meets a man on the Internet. When I started watching this movie all
I could think of was how can a girl be so stupid, but shortly after I realised
it’s not her fault and the story of how her and her family’s life changed after
really touched me. I loved the movie even though the end made me slightly
upset- I don’t want to spoil too much, so I guess you’ll just have to watch a
movie.
Love, Rosie
I’ve wanted to watch Love, Rosie ever since I first
saw a trailer on YouTube, but over time I’ve somehow forgotten about this
movie. But again, thanks to Tumblr, I saw a photo from the movie and this was
obviously a sign that I have to watch it. So, I love Lily and I love Sam and I
admit I cried a little while watching their love story.
What are your favourite TV shows or movies? Have you watched any of my favourites already?
